The crowd at the gates began to cede the territory in front of the compound as the lead Atlas approached the front gates, further back two more approached to flank either side of the lead and another brought up the rear. A lone Catapult approached the gate from a few hundred meters back within the base. The lead Atlas fired a medium laser in warning, but the K2 stood its ground. From within the cockpit of the Catapult a single transmission was wide-beamed to the separatist mechs, "Welcome. Power down your mechs and I will gladly hear your grievances in person at the…" An auto-cannon slug ripped through the air striking the Catapult in the right torso shattering the armor. The catapult responded with twin PPC blasts aimed at the center torso of the lead Atlas slagging off armor, but not enough to take it down.
The Atlases began to move toward the compound shattering walls with auto-cannon slugs, the metal gates wilting before a massive barrage of lasers. The K2 managed to get off two more PPC blasts in the direction of the lead Atlas before the approaching mechs fully breached the front gates and the adjacent walls. The four mechs then began to pound the Catapult mercilessly. Gauss slugs and auto-cannon rounds tore through its center torso as the K2 got off one last blast from its PPCs as the lead Atlas closed to within 150 meters of the K2. A warning klaxon sounded and the K2 pilot ejected as the mech exploded.
