History
This story was written by myself, and was originally written as a backstory for a fictitous military unit in the Battletech™ game universe. Some of the events and history are from the shared universe, and are used to frame the events of this story within the context of that shared universe. The members of the unit are active in a game based in the universe that is currently in beta testing called Mechwarrior Online™. The universe that the game and story are based on was created back in the 1980s during the hay day of tabletop roleplaying games by FASA™, which is long since defunct, but the universe lives on through licensing deals and several spin off companies started by various employees that previously worked at FASA™. The character of Alaric Bainbridge is actually my own, and Alture White is another of the players in the online game that is part of the unit. This story is of course only being used within the context of my own enjoyment of these roleplaying games as well as that of the roleplaying group, and no claim is being made to any of copyrights or trademarks of the various rightsholders that currently own the game related properties.
