Forged in Battle
As AFFS forces took over the operations on each new world CORE Division units were continuously redeployed to new worlds along Capellan and Draconis fronts, many of which they had previously conducted operations on in the years leading up to the war. The succession wars raged, regimental sized units were reduced to a few companies, and units were constantly redeployed further and further from their home worlds and areas of operation. Whole battalions were completely destroyed, or went missing, and new units sprung forth from the tattered remnants of units once proud and steeped in a long history of military tradition. As units were strained to the breaking point and regimental bonds were broken the soldiers became increasingly reliant on just a few close lance-mates.
The elite units of CORE Division were no different. As the fourth succession war waned on only a handful of understrength companies remained, and of those most were reconstituted by incorporating the survivors of veteran AFFS line units and garrisons that had been all but wiped out on missions on worlds were CORE Division forces operated. The remaining companies of what was now CORE Battalion were comprised of Alpha Company “The White Knights”, Bravo Company “The Wild Cards” and Charlie Company “The Screaming Eagles”. Although nearly a battalion in size the pilots of CORE Battalion had only a lance of serviceable battlemechs and were attached to the 10th Deneb Light Cavalry and redeployed one last time to the planet Crossing.
